Black Hills
Black Hills ranks 1st on the list of the best dive sites in Honduras. This place is a hillock in the middle of the sea, which slopes down to 30-40m/100-130ft. On the far eastern side it drops down beyond 130ft (40m). Covered with a great variety of corals, a dive on the sea mound is a very colorful experience. It is very entertaining to dive at the Black Hills, because there are numerous types of colorful corals covering the mound. Divers can explore all the shallows and ledges in search of small fish and crustaceans.
Scuba diving at the Black Hills dive site offers opportunities to observe various schools of fish. Divers may see such local inhabitants as horse-eyed jacks, Atlantic spadefish, Creole wrasses, moray eels, lionfish, and nurse sharks. In the shallows, try your luck and search for different types of crustaceans. Because of the lack of sandy areas Black Hills is well suited for more experienced divers. For any Advanced Open Water Course dive without the need for sand Black Hills will make a great dive site.
