Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay ranks 6th on the list of the best dive sites in Honduras. If you only have one day to dive in Roatan then this site is a must. On thetopare swarms of fish species parrot, grouper etc. But diving deeper, parallel to the slopping wall, you can see the changes in the deeper ecosystem. They slowly change and develop with each meter down you go seeing the differences in the enormous corals, orange ear sponges and delicate seafans decorating the walls surface.
Half Moon Bay, home to the Black Rock Yacht Club and the Half Moon Bay Lifesaving Club, is the crescent-shaped small sandy shallow area to the left of the car park. It is an excellent night dive especially in spring when the phosphorescence is at its brightest. At night you can find octopus, flathead and bull rays. With favorable diving conditions, the island increasingly attracts general tourists, along with more traditional international backpacker visitors. More than eighty diving sites are located around the island among its extensive reefs teeming with marine life, including the elusive whale shark.
