British International School of Brussels
The British International School of Brussels (BISB) is a small primary school in Belgium that started in 2000. BISB is a British Curriculum school for kids aged 3 to 11, placed centrally between NATO and the European Commission. The school provides top-notch education covering Nursery to Key Stage 2, after which students move to secondary schools. The school follows the English National curriculum and welcomes children from over 30 countries.
It was the first school in continental Europe to have interactive whiteboards, and now every classroom, from Nursery to year 6, has them. BISB is open to all students, and before joining, most kids in Belgium have a friendly chat with the Headteacher. Admission depends on available space in the required year group.
Following the National Curriculum for England, BISB's education reflects the diverse experiences of its students and the school's international setting in Europe. English-speaking teachers lead the classes, with extra help for students whose first language is not English. Native speakers teach French lessons.
Sports and physical activities are vital and included in the curriculum and many extracurriculars, such as cricket, orienteering, football, tennis, yoga, and archery. All kids take part in musical productions at Christmas and in the summer. Every term, there's a variety of exciting after-school activities led by our teachers and specialists. Children get to choose the activities they want to try, and the clubs usually run until 16:30.
