Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a supernatural drama television series set in America that is based on the 1992 film of the same name. The series started on The WB on March 10, 1997, and ended on UPN on May 20, 2003. Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is the latest in a line of young women known as "Vampire Slayers," or simply "Slayers," in the series. In the story, Slayers, also known as "Selected Ones," are chosen by fate to battle vampires, demons, and other terrible forces. Buffy wishes to live a regular life, but she comes to accept her fate as the series goes. Buffy is helped by a Watcher, who, like past Slayers, advises, instructs, and trains her. Buffy, unlike her predecessors, surrounds herself with a group of devoted pals known as the "Scooby Gang."

Hundreds of tie-in goods, including novels, comics, and video games, have sprung up as a result of Buffy's success. Fandom (including fan videos), parody, and academia have all praised the show, and it has affected the course of numerous television shows. Buffy, along with Xena: Warrior Princess, La Femme Nikita, Dark Angel, and Alias, is considered part of a wave of television programs from the late 1990s and early 2000s that featured strong female characters.
