Cabarete
Cabarete is an excellent destination to go if you enjoy adventure sports. This previously tranquil fishing community, founded in 1835 by a former slave owner, is today a kite-paradise, surfer's staging several international contests. It's one among the Caribbean's most popular surfing places.
Cabarete has a solid tourism infrastructure, with top hotels and restaurants that are all easily accessible due to the village's one main street. Cabarete offers beautiful beaches, but if you grow weary of them, you can go kayaking, snorkeling, or scuba diving nearby.
