Casa de Campo Resort & Villas
This 7,000-acre La Romana resort (about 45 miles southwest of downtown Punta Cana) is not located on the beach, but Casa de Campo compensates with a variety of on-site activities. Three Pete Dye-designed 18-hole golf courses are on the property, including the difficult and highly acclaimed Teeth of the Dog course. If golf isn't your thing, there are plenty of other daytime activities to choose from, such as tennis, horseback riding, clay shooting, and water sports like kayaking and sailing. Those looking for some R&R can book outdoor or indoor spa treatments or take a dip in the pool.
Meanwhile, the resort's spacious rooms and suites have 42-inch flat-screen TVs, minibars, private balconies or terraces, free Wi-Fi, and bathrooms with glass-enclosed showers and separate tubs. Larger groups can book one of the villas, which have three to ten bedrooms, full kitchens, and living areas. In addition, all accommodations provide loaner golf carts for navigating the property. The resort has eight restaurants (plus two food trucks) that serve everything from Italian-inspired cuisine to Mexican street food.
