Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar
The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Zaragoza, Aragon (Spain). The Basilica venerates Blessed Virgin Mary, under her title, Our Lady of the Pillar praised as "Mother of the Hispanic Peoples" by Pope John Paul II. It is reputed to be the first church dedicated to Mary in history.
The Argon community runs this church. The earliest version of this church was constructed in the 17th century. However, the construction of this church wasn't finished until the 20th century. The church is spread across an interior area of 8318 square meters. In the holy chapel, there is a 15-inch-tall figure of the Virgin Mary. Currently, this is Spain's most frequented church.
