Milan Cathedral
Milan Cathedral, or Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica of the Nativity of Saint Mary (Italian: Basilica cattedrale metropolitana di Santa Maria Nascente), is the cathedral church of Milan, Lombardy, Italy. Dedicated to the Nativity of St Mary (Santa Maria Nascente), it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Archbishop Mario Delpini.
It has an interior area of 11,700 square meters. The church consists of 135 spires. There are statues of some of the significant figures from Italian history on top of the spires. The highest spire is the tallest, standing at 108.8 meters. a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary stands on the same surface. The chapel is home to 3400 wonderful statues in total. Its area is so large that 40,000 people can gather there simultaneously. The roof of the church is accessible to guests. The unique fact about the church is that apart from the statues there are also various sculptures and paintings.
