Cave Bath

The lake bath that has been fashioned into Cave Bath is the true gem of this location. Thousands of years have passed since it was dug and channeled by water from a hard bath stone cliff. The Miskolctapolca Cave Bath is unique in Europe; bathing in the swimming pool covered by nature, with a wonderful temperature thermal water originating from the depths of the mountain, while enjoying pure, clean air, is an unrivaled experience. Many studies have been conducted on the healing capacity of cave baths, owing to the pleasant and medicinal cave atmosphere and warm karst water.

Guests may bathe in hundreds of thousands of year-old cave passageways built by nature and have a great massage from a wild water stream. Visitors may hear the foreboding echo of "star hall" and appreciate unusual kinds of natural auricula in Europe. The parkwayed swimming pool is approximately to 3,6 square miles in size, with 6 swimming pools and basins providing pleasant experiences. Due to its accessibility for tourists with limited mobility, the swimming pool offers a park perfect for relaxation that is also open to handicapped people. Outside basins are only available during the summer. The hot water (temperature: 30°C/86°F) is said to relieve joint discomfort, and because it contains less salt than other thermal waters (about 1000 mg/liter), individuals may bathe in it for much longer, almost indefinitely. Except for January, the Cave Bath is open all year.
