Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is an actress and producer from South Africa and the United States. She is one of the world's highest-paid actresses and has received numerous honors, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Despite her desire to be a dancer, Theron earned a one-year modeling contract at a local competition in Salerno at the age of 16 and relocated to Milan, Italy, with her mother. Theron and her mother moved to the United States after a year of modeling in Europe, settling in both New York City and Miami.

Charlize Theron trained as a ballet dancer and has performed in both "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker." Because there was little work for a young actress or dancer in South Africa, she moved to Europe and the United States. She attended the Joffrey Ballet School in New York, where she trained as a ballet dancer until a knee injury halted her career.
