Clow Reed

Clow Reed is a supporting character in CLAMP's Cardcaptor Sakura anime and manga series. He was regarded as the greatest magician of all time, drawing enormously powerful magics from both his British and Chinese ancestors. He created the Clow Cards, a deck of cards that look like tarot cards but have diverse magical powers. He also created the Clow Cards' two sentient, independent guardians, Yue and Cerberus.

Clow Reed, descended from two powerful clans of magical users, was able to merge the bodies of magical learning of both his families to create a new body of magic—as Cerberus mentioned, the titles of each Clow Card are printed in both English and Kanji. The depth of Clow's magical talents has largely been hinted at by others and is rarely shown in the events of the manga or anime. However, it appears that his abilities were extremely powerful. His abilities gained him the title of greatest magician in history, which he finally cursed.

Clow Reed is regarded as one of the best wizards in anime, who has always attempted to use his unrivaled skills for good. Cardcaptor Sakura recounts Sakura's exploits as the effervescent elementary school student attempts to recapture a set of magical cards that she unintentionally released.
