Dragon boat Festival
This concept originated in China, and the Dragon Boat Festival has been held in Uganda in a couple of years. It always draws a large number of Chinese visitors, and it usually takes place at Forest Park Resort Buloba, where revelers assemble to partake in boat races.
The Dragon Boat Festival celebrates the death of Qu Yuan, a Chinese poet and minister of the State of Chu between 475 and 221 B.C. during the Warring States period.
On the beach, revelers dined on Chinese and Ugandan cuisine. A highlight was the dumplings and other Chinese foods. Cultural games such as a kite show, tug of war, and acrobatic displays were among the highlights of the event.
The dragon boat festival is not only a competition and a meeting, but it also helps to strengthen the bond between the two peoples and cultures. The Dragon Boat Festival race improves Ugandan-Chinese relations by bringing together a large number of Chinese and Ugandans.
