Since 1993, the Royal Ascot Goat Races have been an annual Kampala tradition, conducted at the Speke Resort on the beaches of Lake Victoria. It's undoubtedly the most important social event in Uganda and one of the most famous festivals in Uganda.
The goat races, organized by Ruparelia Group, consist of eight races spread out throughout the course of the day, each containing eight goats. Spectators can also gamble on goats after watching a preparatory procession around the track and reading a bettors' guide that describes each goat. Betting proceeds go to local organizations. There are also hospitality and food tents, as well as children's activities, in addition to the goat races.
The networking and fun-filled event brings Kampala partygoers together, most of whom are from the upper socioeconomic class.

Nyege Nyege, perhaps East Africa's largest music festival, is a four-day music extravaganza that attracts party-goers from all across the continent. This event, according to Nyege Nyege's originator, represents peace, love, and unlimited delight for Africa's underground musicians and musicians.
The lineup is primarily comprised of East African performers, many of whom are associated with Nyege Nyege Tapes. Juan Atkins, Suzi Analogue, and DJ Scotch Egg, all of whose music is influenced by African sounds, are among the musicians and DJs from beyond the continent. Nyege Nyege Festival has drawn criticism from Uganda's religious leaders due to its ties to the LGBT community and tourist appeal. In 2016, locals printed brochures decrying the event, and in 2018, Uganda's minister of ethics attempted to cancel the event, stating it would "damage national integrity" and put residents "at risk of aberrant sexual immorality," but the minister of the interior overruled him.
