Royal Ascot Goat Races

Since 1993, the Royal Ascot Goat Races have been an annual Kampala tradition, conducted at the Speke Resort on the beaches of Lake Victoria. It's undoubtedly the most important social event in Uganda and one of the most famous festivals in Uganda.

The goat races, organized by Ruparelia Group, consist of eight races spread out throughout the course of the day, each containing eight goats. Spectators can also gamble on goats after watching a preparatory procession around the track and reading a bettors' guide that describes each goat. Betting proceeds go to local organizations. There are also hospitality and food tents, as well as children's activities, in addition to the goat races.

The networking and fun-filled event brings Kampala partygoers together, most of whom are from the upper socioeconomic class.
