Dudley Nourse
Arthur Dudley Nourse, a South African Test cricketer, was born on November 12, 1910, and died on August 14, 1981. He was captain of the South African side from 1948 to 1951, and was mostly a batter.
He was named after Governor-General of Australia in 1910, William Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley. Nourse was born just a few days after his father got a double century while on tour with the South African squad in South Australia. Lord Dudley voiced his desire to have the infant named after him when he heard about the innings and the baby.
Nourse gives a blockbuster performance to the South African team against England at the age of 40. He lay the foundation for the South African cricket team to win the first test in 16 years by making a double century against England. Overall, there were 2960 runs in 34 test appearances with the Nourse scope. His batting average is around 53.81, which demonstrates his incredible batting ability. From 1948 to 1951, he was also the captain of the South African cricket team.
