Englischer Garten
You can surf in the city at the English Garden, in the heart of Munich. One of the largest urban parks in the world also known for its surfing. It has a river near Prinzregentenstraße that attracts many surfers, facing the strong waves and currents of Eisbach. Englischer Garten is an enchanting park where you can do a lot of things such as lying in the sun, soaking in the bathtub, admiring ducks and fish swimming in the clear water, visiting historic buildings, playing sports, relaxing in the playground, enjoying good local beer - a vegan treat at Fräulein Grüneis and especially surfing.
At one of the man-made streams flowing through the Englischer Garten, there was a standing wave created by the change from laminar to turbulent flow. Surfers lined up along the shore one after another into the water with their boards. At the southern end of the English Garden, next to the Haus der Kunst, the Eisbach River forms a 1m-high wave. There are usually about a dozen very experienced surfers taking turns riding the waves. In addition, tourists will have a great walk and small picnics. Large gardens with walkways, lakes and beer gardens make you relax, get far away from the noisy city.
