English Mastiff

The first position on the list of the biggest dog breeds is the English Mastiff. Descended most likely from the ancient Alaunt and Pugnaces Britanniae, with a major 19th-century contribution from the Alpine Mastiff. The Mastiff is known for its friendly and loving temperament. It is distinguished by its gigantic size, massive head, short coat in a small range of colors, and always wearing a black mask.

It is the largest dog breed in terms of mass, with a hefty body, broad cranium, and often square-shaped head. Although there is a significant amount of mass overlap between these two breeds, it is often a little heavier than Saint Bernard. Despite being over six inches taller than the Irish Wolfhound and Great Dane, they are not nearly as robust.

Aicama Zorba of La Susa, an English Mastiff from England, held the title for the heaviest dog ever recorded at 155.6 kg, however, there have been claims of heavier dogs, including Saint Bernards, Tibetan Mastiffs, and Caucasian charkas. Zorba was about the size of a small donkey when he was 7 years old, standing 94 cm at the shoulder and 251 cm from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, according to the 1989 edition of the Guinness Book of Records. The Guinness Book of World Records ceased accepting records for the biggest or heaviest pets after 2000.
