Ferdowsi University of Mashhad
Rounding out our list of the best universities in Iran is Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM). The university, founded in 1949, is one of Iran's largest and oldest universities, as well as one of the country's most important research academic institutes. Theology, science, dentistry, optometry, and education are among the university's core faculties. According to statistics given by the Ministry of Sciences, it is constantly listed among the top institutions in Iran.
FUM publishes 48 peer-reviewed scientific journals covering a wide range of disciplines in the sciences and humanities. Journal of Cell and Molecular Research (JCMR), Iranian Journal of Health and Physical Activity, Iranian Journal of Animal BioSystematics, and Iranian Journal of Electrical Systems are just a few examples. International students attend the university from Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Thailand, India, and China.
Every year, the institution hosts a festival where students can showcase their talents and abilities on campus. The Traditional Meals Festival, for example, focuses on cooking foods associated with a given culture. The festivals they host are among the most popular student gatherings at FUM. There are also a couple mosques at FUM. The mosque of Imam Reza, which was completed a few years ago, is one of the university's most visible structures.
Abdul-Hadi Hairi, a globally renowned historian of the Iranian Constitutional Revolution of 1906, Mohammad-Hoseyn Papoli-Yazdi, a leading expert on Iranian rural geography, and Dr. Seyed Ali Mirlohi Falavarjani, a retired Professor and the founder of Islamic Azad University of Falavarjan in 1984, are among its notable alumni.
