  1. The Islamic Azad University, Najafabad Branch (IAUN) – sometimes known as the University of Najafabad – was established in 1985 as the first independent branch of the Islamic Azad University system, and was located in Najafabad, Iran.


    IAUN
    now educates approximately 26,000 university students each year in 250 different majors. Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate degrees are available in a wide range of areas, including electrical engineering, computer engineering, civil engineering, medical science, arts and urbanism, human science, nursing and midwifery, law, and theology.

    On-campus, students have access to nine dormitories, three mosques, eight meeting and conference halls that can seat 5,000 people, a five-story hospital in Isfahan, and Iran's largest academic library, which spans eight floors.


    Students are actively encouraged to participate in sports on campus. Bodybuilding, karate, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, chess, handball, badminton, judo, and taekwondo are among the 17 sports complexes that provide indoor and outdoor facilities. There's also an indoor pool (with wet and dry saunas and a jacuzzi) and indoor and outdoor fields.

    The Islamic Azad University also has agreements with other universities across the world, allowing students to spend a year studying abroad. International students are also welcome on the IAUN campus.

    IAUN
    offers a limited number of scholarships meant to recognize and award academic distinction while also providing access to high-performing students from all backgrounds.

Despite a long history of education dating back to the Sassanid dynasty (224 – 651 AD), the University of Tehran as it is known today was not founded until 1934, making it the country's oldest modern university. It is a government-funded, public institution that is also known as Iran's "mother university." The university is one of the best universities in Iran.

    The University of Tehran has nine colleges, 46 schools, 133 educational departments, 55 research centers, and 550 labs, and serves over 50,000 students. This large-scale business is supported by a faculty of over 2,000 people and a staff of over 5,000 people.

    The University of Tehran has been designated as a Centre of Excellence by the government in many sectors of science and technology. It claims irrigation network evaluation and improvement as one of its research strengths.


    The Central Paradis campus, located on Enqelab Avenue, is the oldest and most well-known of the eight campuses. The other seven include Amir Abad, which houses the majority of the university's housing, the Karaj campus of agriculture and natural resources, the New Science and Technology campus, and two international locations known as Kish and Aras.

    Following a resolution by the Majlis, the Tehran University of Medical Sciences was separated from the university in 1986. (Iranian parliament). This college now has 13,000 students and is regarded as having one of the greatest medical schools in the country.

  3. Sharif University of Technology, established in 1966, is one of Iran's largest engineering colleges. When it was founded, the institution had only 54 teaching members and 412 students. It now boasts a student body of almost 10,000 people. SUT, which is located in Tehran, Iran's capital, was previously known as the Aryamehr University of Industry before being renamed after former student Majid Sharif Vaghefi, who was assassinated in 1975.

    The Sharif University of Technology, which is known in Iran as one of the most famous higher education institutions, offers a variety of graduate and postgraduate degrees in its 15 departments, and it does not only offer engineering courses. Its Department of Philosophy of Science, School of Management and Economics, and Department of Languages and Linguistics are among its non-engineering schools.

    Each department has its own laboratories, library, and workshops, and students can choose to supplement their technical studies with humanities and social sciences courses. Undergraduate admission to Sharif University of Technology is competitive. Only those who score in the top 5% of Iran's national entrance exams, administered by the country's Ministry of Culture and Higher Education, are eligible to enroll.

    Among SUT's notable alumni are Ali Larijani, the Iranian parliament's speaker; pianist Peyman Yazdanian; international football's all-time leading goalscorer Ali Daei; and chess grandmaster Elshan Moradi.

  4. The Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) was founded in 1851 as Dar-ol-Fonoon and is Iran's oldest medical center. It is one of the most prestigious medical sciences universities in the region, with a history dating back more than 160 years. It brings together a community of teachers, students, and staff who educate, do research and lead public service efforts in Iran. It focuses on developing novel remedies for a wide range of medical concerns affecting the community's health and well-being.

  6. Amirkabir University of Technology, founded in 1958, has developed to become one of the most important places in Iran to study engineering. It is primarily sponsored by the state because it is a public institution.

    Amirkabir University of Technology
    has four campuses and around 14,000 square meters of green area. The main campus is in Teheran's old and bustling center, while the other three are in the minor towns of Mahshahr, Garmsar, and the port town of Bandar Abbas. The institution possesses around 250 research and educational labs, as well as a stadium and a variety of sports that students can participate in.


    Robotics, advanced textile materials and technology research, energy research, transportation, renewable energy, optics, nanotechnology, and environment research are some of Amirkabir's specialties.   7. TMU (Tarbiat Modares University) was established in 1982. This university's primary aim is to train academic personnel and researchers for Iranian universities and higher education institutions. TMU strives to create a professional atmosphere for research in a variety of fields and disciplines.


    It has also developed various academic relationships with prestigious domestic and international academic and industrial institutions. This includes agreements for student exchange, the publication of books and journals, and the conduct of national and international gatherings and conferences. TMU provides Master's and Ph.D. programs in 122 and 95 fields, respectively, as a postgraduate university. The number of Master's and Ph.D. students for this academic year is 4315 and 2429, respectively.


    The Tarbiat Modares University currently has 13 faculties and 14 linked research institutes. There are 528 full-time faculty members at the university. The university's main campus is in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The Faculty of Agriculture is 17 kilometers west of Tehran, and the Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences is on the Caspian Sea shore at Noor.


    Among the university's additional facilities are libraries, computer centers, gyms, restaurants, a coffee shop, and several dorms. It has been constantly expanding since its inception, and numerous new buildings for the colleges of Engineering, Basic Sciences, and Agriculture are currently under development.

  8. The Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) was created in 1929 in the Iranian capital Tehran to train the country's engineers and is now regarded as one of the country's top technical colleges.

    Initially known as the Governmental Technical Institute, it was renamed the Advanced Art College before being renamed the Iran Faculty of Science and Technology in 1972. The faculty was given full university status by the Ministry of Sciences in 1978, and IUST was founded.

    The university has 13 faculties that offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a variety of engineering, math, and physics courses. IUST conferred the first PhDs in Materials, Metallurgical, and Traffic Engineering in Iran in 1995. There are additionally 12 research centers, nine centers of excellence, 19 specialized libraries, and four satellite campuses located throughout the country.

    The campus is located on 42 acres near Narmark, northeast of Tehran, and includes academic and administrative buildings, the main library, residence halls, a mosque, and indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The institution also has a sports stadium with a capacity of 20,000 people.

    Many current and past government ministers are alumni, but none more so than Iran's sixth president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who both studied and taught at the university. In 1976, Ahmadinejad enrolled in IUST for an undergraduate degree in civil engineering before pursuing a master's and subsequently a PhD in traffic and transportation engineering and planning.

  9. Shiraz University in Iran is one of the country's most internationally famous institutions, as well as a research leader. The High Institute of Health, the university's forerunner, was founded in 1946 as a medical school. After the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty, this was renamed Shiraz University and later Pahlavi University.

    The university is Iran's sole educational institution modeled after the American higher education system. Its creation was a collaborative endeavor with the University of Pennsylvania, and it continues to have an impact on Shiraz today. The institution offers 80 Bachelor's, 180 Master's, and 120 Doctoral degree programs.

The university, founded in 1949, is one of Iran's largest and oldest universities, as well as one of the country's most important research academic institutes. Theology, science, dentistry, optometry, and education are among the university's core faculties. According to statistics given by the Ministry of Sciences, it is constantly listed among the top institutions in Iran.

    FUM
    publishes 48 peer-reviewed scientific journals covering a wide range of disciplines in the sciences and humanities. Journal of Cell and Molecular Research (JCMR), Iranian Journal of Health and Physical Activity, Iranian Journal of Animal BioSystematics, and Iranian Journal of Electrical Systems are just a few examples.
