Fever-Tree Drinks
Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow launched Fevertree Drinks plc, also known as Fever-Tree, a British manufacturer of high-end drink mixers, in 2004. The company's original offering, a tonic water, inspired its name. Quinine, a substance obtained from the bark of the South American cinchona tree, was used to flavor their tonic. The first tonic water was created when soda water and sugar were added to quinine when it was first introduced to India as a medicine to help lower the fever caused by malaria. In India, the cinchona tree was known as the fever tree.
