Fujairah
Fujairah City is the capital of the United Arab Emirates' emirate of Fujairah. On the Gulf of Oman, it is the UAE's seventh-largest city (part of the Indian Ocean). On the UAE's east coast, it is the only Emirati capital city. Fujairah is a city on the east coast of the Indian Ocean, at the foothills of the Hajar Mountains, that serves as an industrial and commercial hub.
Fujairah, one of the seven emirates, is known for housing the UAE's oldest mosque. Al-Bidyah Mosque, made of mud and stones, is one of Fujairah's most popular tourist attractions. Aside from the mosque, the vast desert, the Fujairah Fort, and the Fujairah Museum are all worth visiting.
Fujairah City is the emirate's main business and commercial hub, with tall office buildings (such as Fujairah Tower) lining Hamad Bin Abdulla Road, the city's main thoroughfare. The road that connects Fujairah City and Dubai runs through the city. The city's location allows the United Arab Emirates direct access to the Indian Ocean, avoiding the need to travel through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Many cylindrical oil storage tanks can be found in the northern part of the waterfront.
