Sir Bani Yas
Sir Bani Yas is a natural island located 170 kilometers (110 miles) southwest of Abu Dhabi, the UAE's capital. It's 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) off the coast of Jebel Dhanna, which serves as a gateway to other islands like Dalma. Sir Bani Yas is the largest natural island in the United Arab Emirates, measuring 17.5 kilometers (10.9 miles) north to south and 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) east to west.
Sir Bani Yas, located just off the coast of Abu Dhabi's western region, was once home to Arabia's largest wildlife reserve. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan established the reserve in 1977, covering 87 km2 (34 sq mi). Thousands of large free-roaming animals and several million trees and plants now call it home, thanks to decades of conservation work and ecological investment.
Sir Bani Yas, a bird sanctuary and wildlife reserve, celebrates nature with activities like adventure safaris, kayaking, mountain biking, archery, hiking, and snorkeling.
