General Motors Corporation (GM) is an American automobile manufacturer, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, United States. GM was the top seller of automobiles for 77 consecutive years from 1931 to 2007. Presently, it manufactures cars and trucks in about 34 countries.
Once the world's largest auto corporation but GM had to file for bankruptcy protection from the US government in 2009. During the crisis, GM closed 3 brands Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer, selling Saab brand for Spyker Cars (Netherlands). Step by step back to the top of the car industry, they now hold a total of 8 brands. Currently, GM cars and trucks are sold globally under the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, and Wuling brands.
