SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC) is a Chinese state-owned automobile design and manufacturing company headquartered in Shanghai, with operations in many countries. This company is in the Fortune Global 100 and is one of the four largest state-owned automobile manufacturers in China.
SAIC has been manufacturing cars since 1940. It is now a joint venture with Volkswagen, and also with General Motors since 1998. SAIC's products are sold under several brand names. Two notable brands owned by SAIC are MG, a British car brand, and Roewe, one of the few domestic Chinese luxury car brands.
