Ghardaia carpet festival
The city of Ghardaia is located in Algeria's Gharadaia Province, approximately 370 miles outside of Algiers. It is a historically significant city that dates back to the eleventh century. Its architecture and monuments have stood the test of time, and the city has kept true to its historic cultures and traditions while maintaining its individuality through urban design, earning the Ghardaia Province UNESCO World Heritage status in 1982.
They make their one-of-a-kind carpets out of goat hair, with geometric and simple patterns that are absolute beauties. The carpets are usually black and white, but the annual Ghardaia Carpet Festival has turned into a competition among the greatest carpet weavers. Weavers from all over Algeria come to the Ghardaia Festival every year to compete in competitions to determine who is the greatest weaver of the year and to show off their diverse collection of carpets to the festival's thousands of visitors.

Ghardaia Carpet Festival is vibrant and rhythmic, with Karkabou bands filling the air with music and dance, processions entertaining the masses, and the aromas of traditional foods luring hungry visitors in.
