Saharan International Film Festival
The Sahara International Film Festival, also known as FiSahara, is an annual event held in the Sahrawi refugee camp, near the border with Western Sahara, in the southwest corner of Algeria. It is the world's only film festival held in a refugee camp. And it is one of the most famous festivals in Algeria.
FiSahara was held in the Wilaya of Smara, the Wilaya of Ausserd, and the Wilaya of El Aaiun for the first three years. The event has been held in the Wilaya of Dakhla since 2007. The Polisaro front is supporting the event, although it is mostly organized and supported by donations from Spain, Western Sahara's former colonial authority. The festival has attracted support from Spanish film celebrities, including Pedro, Macao’s have performed in concerts during the festival.
