Grand Bahama
Grand Bahama is the northernmost of the Bahamas' islands and a frequent stopover for cruise ships and package visitors. Freeport, the Bahamas' capital, is the country's second-largest city, however Port Lucaya has surpassed it as a shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. The marina and the Port Lucaya Marketplace sell jewelry and straw goods, as well as other souvenirs, and the marina is a popular hangout for tourists and boaters.
Despite the enormous number of all-inclusive resorts and hotels on the Grand Bahama, it is still possible to avoid the throng. The underwater cave system of Grand Bahama is one of the world's longest. Nature lovers can view several local bird species in the three national parks or book a dolphin close encounter. Hurricane Dorian blasted into Grand Bahama in 2019 as a category 5 storm, however, most of the island's key tourist sites have already reopened.
