Lucayan National Park

Lucayan National Park - the natural jewel of Grand Bahama is this 16-hectare national park. The park, located 40 kilometers east of Ranfurly Circle, is famed for its underwater cave system, which is one of the world's longest. A small walkway leads to two of the caves: Ben's Cave and Burial Mound Cave. Ben's Cave is home to tiny buffy flower bats, and in 1986, the remains of the island's first inhabitants, the Lucayans, were unearthed in the Burial Mound Cave.

The Lucayan National Park is especially unusual in that it has all six vegetation zones found in the Bahamas. The secluded and beautiful Gold Rock Beach is accessible via mangrove trails and is well worth a visit if you're passing through. You'll encounter more raccoons and seagulls than people, but keep an eye on your food at the beachside picnic area; the raccoons are brazen (but harmless) scavengers.
