Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church (Icelandic Church) in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 74.5 meters tall, it is the largest church in Iceland and one of the tallest structures in the country. The church is named after the Icelandic poet and rabbi Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674), the author of the Passion Hymn.
Built between 1945 and 1986, the modern church is named after Icelandic poet Hallgrimur Petursson, while a striking statue of explorer Leif Erikson can be found in front of it. One of the main attractions of the Icelandic capital, Hallgrimskirkja also offers stunning panoramic views from its tower for visitors to enjoy.
