Help Kill off Bacteria
From pneumonia to ear infections, disease-causing bacteria are to blame for a large array of harmful diseases. According to certain research conducted in test tubes, the herb kalonji may have the ability to kill some types of bacteria. In one trial, kalonji was used topically to treat babies with staphylococcal skin infections and was shown to be just as effective as a common antibiotic for treating bacterial infections.
From the wounds of diabetes patients, different research identified methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a form of bacteria that is challenging to treat and resistant to medications. In more than half of the samples, Kalonji destroyed the germs in a dose-dependent manner. Kalonji has been demonstrated to be able to prevent the growth of several different bacterial strains, including MRSA, in test-tube investigations. However, there are few human studies, and further investigation is required to determine how kalonji could influence various bacterial strains in the body.
