May Prevent Stomach Ulcers

Stomach ulcers are painful sores that develop when the stomach's lining of protecting mucus is dissolved by stomach acids. According to certain studies, kalonji may aid in maintaining the stomach's lining and preventing the development of ulcers. In one experiment on animals, kalonji was used to heal 20 rats that had stomach ulcers. Not only did it have healing benefits in roughly 83 percent of the rats, but it was also almost as effective as a commonly prescribed drug for stomach ulcers.

Another experiment on animals revealed that kalonji and its active ingredients inhibited the growth of ulcers and shielded the stomach lining from the effects of alcohol. Remember that animal studies are the only ones being used in research nowadays. To learn how kalonji could influence the emergence of stomach ulcers in people, more investigation is required.
