Top 6 in Top 8 Longest Rivers in Moldova
The Ialpug is a river that runs through Moldova and Ukraine's Odessa Oblast. It springs near the village of Tomai in the Leova District, runs south in parallel with the Prut, then through the Bolhrad Raion in Ukraine, and enters Lake Yalpuh near Bolhrad.
The scholar voivode Dimitrie Cantemir mentions this river in his paper Descriptio Moldaviae (Description of Moldavia), written in Latin between 1714 and 1716: "Moldavia and Bessarabia's Cahulul, Salcia, and Ialpuhul all contribute to the Danube's expansion. Only the Ialpug flows without consistency among the latter; the others are more stable than flowing."
The main tributaries are on the left the river Lunga, and on the right Chirsova Mare, Aluguel, and Salvia Mare.
