International School of Los Angeles
The International School of Los Angeles (LILA) is a non-profit, autonomous international school dedicated to multilingual education and academic performance in a supportive atmosphere. LILA provides a preschool through the 12th-grade program that leads to the French baccalauréat or the Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate. Their goal is to create multilingual critical thinkers who are open-minded, confident, and kind, and who are prepared to succeed in a varied and competitive world.
In a multilingual setting, the International School of Los Angeles follows the academic curriculum of the French Ministry of Education. Aside from the scientifically established benefits of bilingualism, the School hopes to instill in children the value of constructivist education, in which students participate actively in the development of meaning and knowledge.
The principle that they are all citizens of one planet is emphasized because the school's students, instructors, and staff come from a variety of countries (50 nationalities are represented on the five campuses, with 39 languages spoken at home).
Harvard University, Princeton University, Columbia University, Stanford University, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and other universities throughout the world accept graduates of the International School of Los Angeles.
