On Kagome Higurashi's 15th birthday, her life takes an unexpected turn as she is forcibly pulled into the ancient well at her family's shrine by a demon. Transported to the past, a time when demons roamed freely in feudal Japan, Kagome becomes the target of these malevolent creatures, all coveting an item she unknowingly possesses—the Shikon Jewel, a small sphere of immense power.

In this challenging situation, Kagome crosses paths with Inuyasha, a half-demon who initially mistakes her for Kikyou, a shrine maiden he harbors resentment toward. Due to her resemblance to Kikyou, Inuyasha develops a hostile attitude toward Kagome. However, recognizing the gravity of their shared predicament, he sets aside his animosity and extends a helping hand.

Regrettably, in a skirmish over the Shikon Jewel, the powerful object is inadvertently shattered into fragments, scattering them across the land. Fearing the catastrophic repercussions of this mishap, Kagome and Inuyasha embark on a quest to retrieve the shards before they fall into the wrong hands.
