Itanda Falls
The Itanda Falls are located about 27 meters from Jinja city - the largest city in the eastern region it's a 45-minute drive. The falls are along the River Nile in Jinja District. The falls are an amazing hidden treasure with different activities that take place these include rafting and kayaking among others. The Itanda Falls is used by all six whitewater rafting levels. It is the Paradise of Kayakers and Rafters and was once visited by Prince William of Great Britain, Itanda falls is one of the most spectacular and beautiful hidden treasures of Uganda. The Itanda falls is a steep cascade roaring waterfall on the majestic River Nile the longest river in the world, the water is estimated at 100 meters deep. Whirlpools can drag one down 50 meters, according to journals kept by rafters, before letting go. Sharp rocks and the rocket-like current can trap even the most experienced.
Itanda Falls is located along the Nile River and it is hard to ignore them when it comes to Jinja. Although it is not easily accessible, it is a peaceful place just 27 km from Jinja town and rarely visited by tourists making it retain its natural beauty. Itanda Falls is considered a sacred place by the locals, who pray for healing from the area.
