Jahangirnagar University
Jahangirnagar University, which was founded in 1970 as a fully residential public university, presently comprises 36 departments, six faculties, and four institutes, with over fifteen thousand students and around 500 academics dedicated to teaching and research. The vast beautiful campus is situated 30 kilometers from the city center of Dhaka and is connected to a civic expressway. In 1973, the first assembly of Independent Bangladesh approved the institution's Charter, which governs how the university is run.
The university's logo depicts the civic annual 'white lily' (Lilium condidu), which has three petals belted by strips of appropriate floral architecture, with the university's name in Bangla ensconcing in a semi-circle like a band of flowers.
Jahangirnagar University is one of Bangladesh's oldest universities, located in Savar, near Dhaka. It is a residential university. It was originally launched on January 12, 1971, by its original judge, Governor of Above East Pakistan, Rear Admiral S.M. Ahsan. Following Bangladesh's independence, the government passed the Jahangirnagar University Act of 1973, repealing the previous authorisation and renaming the university Jahangirnagar University. This statute, under which the University is now operating, is responsible for its current appearance.
