The deck was one of several such items up for sale through Boards+Bands, a fundraiser organized by Grammy Award-winning artist Ben Harper to assist the Tony Hawk Foundation to build free public skateparks in low-income communities. The foundation receives 100% of the revenues from the eBay-hosted sale. The auction was the brainchild of musician Ben Harper, who wanted to bring together skaters and musicians to support the Tony Hawk Foundation's efforts to establish public skateparks in low-income communities around the country. Seven professional skaters donated their boards to the auction, raising over $126,000 for the Foundation.
