Tony Hawk’s Beatles/Blackbird Skateboard

On eBay, a Tony Hawk skateboard with handwritten Beatles "Blackbird" lyrics added by Paul McCartney sold for $27,116 to benefit charity. Hawk's customized decals were on the heavily-used skateboard during his first pro skate demo in Mumbai, India, in 2011. The board has handwritten Beatles' "Blackbird" lyrics, which Paul McCartney subsequently added and signed.

Hawk described why he chose McCartney's "Blackbird" in the eBay ad, saying, "I simply felt why not go for broke and go to the top?" It was ecstatic since it's one of his few songs with all of the words fitting on the board, plus it's one he created himself. The Tony Hawk Foundation joined up with great musicians (Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Adam Yauch, Ben Harper, and others) to generate cash for free public skating in low-income regions, which was facilitated on eBay by AuctionCause.
