Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (September 7, 1948 – May 13, 2022), the second president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, served from November 2004 until May 20, 2022.


Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president of the United Arab Emirates, was his father's eldest son. When his father's health began to fail in the late 1990s, Khalifa assumed some functions of the presidency in a de facto role as crown prince of Abu Dhabi. On November 2, 2004, he succeeded his father as ruler of Abu Dhabi, and the Federal Supreme Council elected him president of the United Arab Emirates the next day. He brought cultural and intellectual centers to Abu Dhabi as ruler, assisting in the establishment of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways was also founded by him.


Emir of Abu Dhabi, President of the United Arab Emirate, and Sheikh Khalifa are all political titles held by Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is a well-known philanthropist all around the world. When his father passed away, he was given the title of Emir of Abu Dhabi. Obtaining this title instantly elevated him to the position of president. This figurehead is in charge of the world's second-largest sovereign wealth fund. The fund's assets have been estimated to be $773 billion.
