Serge Dassault

Serge Dassault was a French engineer, businessman, and politician who lived from 4 April 1925 until 28 May 2018. He was the chairman and CEO of Dassault Group as well as a conservative politician. Madeleine Dassault and Marcel Dassault (born Marcel Ferdinand Bloch) were his parents, and he inherited the Dassault Group from them. His parents were both born into a Jewish family but eventually converted to Roman Catholicism.


His father created the company that is today Dassault Aviation in 1929. During WWII, he was imprisoned when his father was sent to Buchenwald for refusing to cooperate with the German aircraft industry through his business, Bordeaux-Aéronautique, run by Henri Déplante, André Curvale, and Claude de Cambronne.

went to the Lycée Janson de Sailly to study. He graduated from the École Polytechnique (class of 1946) and Supaéro with engineering degrees (class of 1951). He graduated from HEC Paris with an Executive MBA in 1963. Dassault's net worth was estimated at US$15 billion in 2016, according to Forbes.
