Les Misérables

Set in 19th century France, Les Miserables tells the story of many characters with different backgrounds, connected by the central character - Jean Valjean. After 19 years in prison for stealing food for a starving family, Jean was released. However, carrying a golden passport (the type of paper reserved for those who committed crimes in the past) so he was banished everywhere. The Miserables lead viewers through the ups and downs of Jean Valjean's life from prison until the end of his life, meeting with characters such as Javert, Fantine, Marius, Cosette, the Thénardier couple, or the Éponine.
Les Miserables won three major Golden Globe awards, including Best Comedy/Musical, Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical (for Hugh Jackman), and Best Supporting Actress (for Hugh Jackman) (for Anne Hathaway). At the 2013 Oscars, the film received 8 nominations, including Best Picture.
