Welcome to Moscow State University, the first Russian university created in 1755 on the initiative of Mikhail Lomonosov, a brilliant Enlightenment scientist whose restless encyclopedic intellect and activity provided the undertaking with inner force. From 1755 to the present: basic marks, well-known teachers and graduates, and universities nowadays. Moscow University has a long and illustrious academic history. However, the basic mission remains the same as it has for centuries: to provide excellent teaching, scholarship, and research. But it is this intellectual spirit, paired with an insatiable curiosity, that makes our University so vibrant.
Lomonosov Moscow State University has 380 departments, 39 faculties, 15 research centers, four museums, and six branch campuses in Russia and overseas.
