Love Shack
Love Shack is a song by American new wave band the B-52's from their fifth studio album, Cosmic Thing (1989). Don has written it, and it was released on June 20th, 1989. Now, this song is considered to be one of the best karaoke songs. Following the band's downturn in popularity in the middle of the 1980s and the passing of guitarist Ricky Wilson in 1985, the song served as a comeback for them.
Since its release, "Love Shack" has become a concert staple and is regarded as the band's anthem. Commercially, the song was a smash, topping the charts in New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland. It also peaked at number two on the UK Singles List, number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number five on Canada's RPM Top Singles chart. "Love Shack" was rated 246th on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and was selected the best song of 1989. In 2001, the song was also selected as one of the top 365 songs of the century.
