Luigi and Daisy (Super Mario Bros.)

Super Mario Bros. is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time, owing to its accurate controls. With over 58 million copies sold globally, it is one of the best-selling games of all time. It is recognized, along with the NES, for helping to revitalize the video game industry following the 1983 collapse, and for popularizing the side-scrolling platform game genre. Daisy was initially intended to be a stand-in for Peach in the Game Boy launch title Super Mario Land. Daisy originally appeared with Mario's younger brother in NES Open Tournament Golf, when she served as Luigi's caddy on the title screen.

While their relationship has never been confirmed, the overt hints are so regular that they may as well be married. Statues in Mario Kart Wii and specific figure skating animation in Mario and Sonic during the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games are two examples. Daisy is one of the finest spin-off characters, but she would shine even more in a full Mario game alongside Luigi.
