Macchialina

Macchialina ranks 7th in the list of best restaurants In South Beach. The casual neighborhood restaurant Macchialina, which opened in June 2012 and is situated at 820 Alton Road in the center of South Beach's residential west side neighborhood, has quickly gained popularity among critics, residents, and knowledgeable tourists who come to savor the rustic yet opulent Italian fare prepared by chef/owner Michael Pirolo. Jen Chaefsky, a business and personal partner, and Michael Pirolo, a former chef de cuisine at Scarpetta, routinely produce some of Miami's greatest and most delicious cuisine.

Every meal is excellent, but Pirolo's house-made pastas and creamy polenta stuffed with sausage ragu are particularly delicious. The daily specials menu features something different every day, and Macchialina also offers a daily, reasonably priced five-course tasting menu. Dinner is served in the restaurant's outdoor "Giardino," and private dinners can be held in the inside dining area. The "Bestia" private dinners are served family-style and can accommodate four to twelve people. To reserve a "Bestia" dinner, call the restaurant; there is only one available each night.
