Magnificent landscape of lakes

Despite its small size, Kosovo boasts a diverse set of traits. There is a lot of natural variety here, from the nation's core plains and valleys to the Sharr Mountains in the southeast, the Albanian Alps in the southwest, and gorgeous lakes scattered across the country. Gazivode Lake, Fierza Reservoir, and others are among the nicest lakes in Kosovo.

Gazivoda Lake is Kosovo's largest and most picturesque lake, which you should not miss when on vacation in Kosovo. A reservoir formed by one of Europe's largest earthen dams, 24 kilometers long, in the course of the river Ibar. The lake also serves as a vital source of cooling water for the two power plants, which provide around 92 percent of Kosovo's electricity. There are various little beaches along Gazivoda, simply park your car on the road and stroll down. There's also a quiet beach between Tusice and Dragalice where you may bring your own picnic for a relaxing afternoon.

The Fierza Reservoir is another beautiful lake in Kosovo. There are several valleys and tiny islands on the Albanian side of the lake. The expansive Fierza Reservoir, which straddles the borders of Albania and Kosovo, is a painting of tranquil, unspoiled beauty. The lake and its surrounding region, which was named a Regional Nature Park in 2014, are rich in gorgeous plant life, lending it postcard-perfect charm. The reservoir was established as a result of the Albanian government's 1978 building of the Fierza Hydroelectric Power Station. This power station is also accessible when visiting Fierza power station.
