Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a 2019 action role-playing video game for the Nintendo Switch developed by Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja and published by Nintendo. It is the third installment in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series, following 2006's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and 2009's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and the first Marvel game published by Nintendo without the involvement of Activision (due to the latter's Marvel publishing license expiring in 2014 and 2016). The game follows a new team of superheroes as they band together to save the universe from Thanos and the eponymous Black Order, who have launched a search for the six Infinity Stones.
When it was released, the game received mixed reviews from critics, who generally enjoyed the gameplay and storyline but were disappointed that it did not improve significantly on its predecessors. It's a very faithful sequel that mines the vast roster of comic-book characters while also including plenty of nods to the more modern Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it doesn't do anything particularly innovative or noteworthy, it embraces the brainless fun of its brawler combat with zeal, and it's at its best when played with a team of player-controlled supers.
