Mary Poppins
The Sherman Brothers wrote and composed the songs for Mary Poppins, a 1964 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney. Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi wrote the script, which is based on P. L. Travers' Mary Poppins series of books. Julie Andrews makes her feature film debut as Mary Poppins, who visits a troubled family in London and uses her particular brand of living to mend their dynamic.
Mary Poppins has remained a classic and, despite how difficult it was for Walt Disney to obtain the rights to this film, it proved to be well worth the effort. Julie Andrews was fantastic in this part, contributing to the creation of such a memorable persona. In order to operate as a nanny, she had to strike the proper combination of joy and excitement with loving sternness. Mary Poppins is such a delightful figure that it launched Julie Andrews' career and gave her a part and a film that will endure.
