Thoroughly Modern Millie
Thoroughly Modern Millie is a 1967 American musical-romantic comedy film starring Julie Andrews and directed by George Roy Hill. The screenplay, written by Richard Morris and based on the 1956 British musical Chrysanthemum, tells the story of a naive young woman who embarks on a series of crazy adventures when she decides to marry her wealthy boss. Mary Tyler Moore, James Fox, John Gavin, Carol Channing, and Beatrice Lillie also feature in the picture.
Thoroughly Modern Millie has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, making it one of the finest films ever made and surely one of Julie Andrews' best. She plays Millie herself, a flapper who is just interested in finding a partner. While Millie is a touch naive, especially considering she's new to the big city of New York, this loving film is a lot of fun to see. Julie gives a humorous performance as the character, which adds to the film's sense of adventure as she matures and adapts.
