May improve exercise performance
Rhodiola is thought to enhance athletic performance by lowering physical and mental exhaustion and boosting antioxidant activity. Rhodiola could enhance rat performance in terms of muscle power and strength, according to one animal study. After resistance training, rats in the study received a dose of Rhodiola Rosea extract together with Rhaponticum carthamoides (Rha), another substance found in Rhodiola.
Intake of Rhodiola in young, healthy, physically active men was observed to reduce reaction time and overall response time. The activity of antioxidants was also boosted, although it had no impact on total endurance. Rhodiola has been demonstrated in earlier research to enhance exercise performance by reducing perceived exertion, or how hard subjects felt their body was working.
Rhodiola supplementation did not improve the immune systems of marathon competitors, modify oxygen uptake in muscles, or change muscle performance, according to studies. Furthermore, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health cautions that there is inadequate data from human research to draw any conclusions on the efficacy of Rhodiola for any medical use. This may be partially due to the fact that no one is entirely sure how Rhodiola impacts human performance.
